Going Home: Loki

It's Woof Wednesday again! Hope you and your pets stayed cool during the warm days this past weekend. Seems we are already back to normal temperatures around here.

Here at Berkeley Humane, we love hearing about the animals that find great homes and how they adapt to their new surroundings.

Especially when they find new skills like opening mail and such. For example, here's Loki, formerly Chip, who has quite the talent for opening mail! And it seems he's rather enjoying it! Who knew we had such skilled pup amongst us?

Here's what Krista, Loki's adopter, told us on Facebook:

"I adopted Chip, now known as Loki, several weeks ago. He's doing great! Here he is, helping me open mail, LOL. Thank you guys for letting me give him a furever home!"

Here's to you Loki and Krista and to many many happy days of opening mail!

We love hearing from our past graduates and their adopters. Photos are, of course, always welcome!

Interested in finding your own skilled companion? Come visit us at Berkeley Humane, Friday through Sunday from 11am to 5pm. Our website has great information on the adoption process and our available cats and dogs. Hope to see you soon!

Going Home: Samantha

Happy Feline Friday! Are you ready for the long Labor Day weekend? We hope it brings you extra time to spend with your pets!

Now, we don't want to be-Labor the point, but we have some pretty great animals at Berkeley Humane and nothing makes us happier than seeing potential adopters meet their purr-fect pet. As we head into the Labor Day holiday weekend, we're happy to share with you another great adoption story that includes that special moment when adopters find the right new pet.

See, we have a tradition at Berkeley Humane: when an adoption is finalized we snap a picture and later post it on our Facebook page. Each month, these "Going Home" albums show excited adopters about to take their first step outside with their new pet.

Today's wonderful adoption story includes one of those "Going Home" pictures along with an update. The McIntyres sent us this note about Samantha, former Berkeley Humane graduate:

"Thank you, Berkeley Humane, for this little gift of "Sammy" (Samantha). She was formerly "Birdo". She is a little spitfire but oh so sweet! We are over the moon about her. She is adjusting well in her new forever home."

As you can see from this photo, Sammy found herself in loving arms to snuggle and rest. Thank you for the update, McIntyre family!

Interested in adopting your own feline this weekend? Visit Berkeley Humane at 9th and Carlson from Friday through Sunday to meet your new best friend.

Going Home: Snaggle

Happy Woof Wednesday!

So many animals found homes this past weekend at Bark & Meow Around the Block! We'll give you a closer look at the record-setting adoption numbers later in the week. To celebrate Woof Wednesday, here's a barking tale about a small pup who also found a wonderful home a few months back.

Meet Snaggle, formerly Irish Red.

How adorable is Snaggle? Those ears, those eyes, and best of all, that tooth! Not every dog can pull off a snaggle tooth with such style but as you can see, Snaggle does it with ease.

Here's a note from Snaggle's adopter Kathy, who had this to say:

"I renamed Irish Red.  He is now, officially, Snaggle, because of his snaggle tooth.  He is a wonderful dog and he truly was meant to be here.  We have gone to see our vet and I signed him up for training.  Thank you for bringing us together."

Thank you for the update Kathy! Here's to Snaggle and working on those training commands.

Did you find a special friend at Bark & Meow Around the Block this past weekend? Update us about your Berkeley Humane adoption story on Facebook, or send us a note!

Going Home: Luna

Happy Woof Wednesday!

We love hearing about our furry friends that find homes where they can truly be themselves!

As you can see from Luna's photos, she has made herself quite comfortable.

Luna's adopter, Gabriel Nunez, sent us an update …

“We adopted Luna about 18 months ago and we are so happy to have her. We love her so much."

Thank you so much for keeping us updated on Luna. We are always thrilled to hear how our animals are loved once they are adopted!

Going Home: Zoey

 Welcome to Woof Wednesday!

We have a wonderful update on Zoey, who was adopted a year ago this month.

We’re so happy to hear she’s adjusting so well and is loved by her new family!

Zoey's adopter, Andrew Tomforde, sent us a sweet note and accompanied it with an adorable picture:

"I adopted Zoey at Berkeley Humane in July 2014. Best decision of my life. She is so loyal and goofy and such a great companion. I can't imagine life without her anymore."

"I highly recommend checking out Berkeley Humane if you're #LookingFurLove."

Thank you, Andrew, for keeping us posted on Zoey and happy one-year anniversary! Zoey looks great in her Frozen headband!

We welcome updates, stories, and photos from adopters about their pets after they wave goodbye to Berkeley Humane.
