Our wonderful volunteers give so much to our organization and our animals that we just want to shout our gratitude from the rooftops! We try to give them just a little bit back by highlighting a special volunteer each month and recognizing their hard work. Read on for this month’s installment of Berkeley Humane Volunteer Appreciation!
Peter is a volunteer who has done
bookkeeping for us in an effort to learn more about nonprofit accounting. Our
director of finance, Ellen, nominated him as our June volunteer of the month
and described him as “gentle, soft spoken, reliable, curious, and a quick
learner.”
“Peter’s volunteer work has helped
me complete some important projects that were behind schedule and keep up to
date with monthly tasks that take a lot of time that I just don’t have,” Ellen
says. On top of that, “I call him the dog whisperer, because his energy around
the dogs in the office is so calming.”
The time and dedication that Peter
puts into our bookkeeping is so appreciated here at BEBHS. When Peter
first wrote us a letter offering to pitch in, we had no idea what a wonderful asset
to our organization he would become. We’re so glad we took him up on his offer to help out--he
has been an invaluable resource since day one, and we’re INCREDIBLY lucky to
have him as a volunteer!
