How did BEBHS share the Valentine's love, you ask?
With our fun-filled, community-wide celebration
Tails from the Heart!
Tails from the Heart was a celebration of our favorite kind of love, the unconditional kind we share with our furry companions. On Sunday, February 10, BEBHS hosted a fun-filled event for all ages and species--human, feline and canine alike. It was a smashing success and a wonderful tribute to the companion animals that have made a difference in all of our lives!
BEBHS dog trainer Nancy Frensley hosted a doggie dance party with bluegrass band The Dartmouth Mtn. Trio whose upbeat music made everyone tap their toes and paws. It was a hoot!
The very talented Kira Stackhouse of Nuena Photography took professional photographs of attendees' adorable pups against a backdrop while their adoring owners watched. It was definitely one of the most popular booths!
Bondi, the adorable pup of BEBHS Marketing Manager, Emily Lines, gave out too many kisses to count at the Smooch the Pooch Booth and developed quite the fan club!
Dr. Beth Phimister, a veterinarian from Kensington Veterinary Hospital, hosted an advice booth for people with animal health and behavior questions.
The Be My Valentine Booth offered arts and crafts materials that attendees used to make Valentines for our shelter animals, and the creativity and talent were beyond impressive! Folks also made cat and dog toys, both for their furry companions as well as our shelter animals.
In anticipation of the event we held three Facebook photo contests, leading to a Grand Finale contest in which the ultimate winner was selected by a panel of judges. BEBHS friend and volunteer, Jane Stutfield, submitted this photo of her beloved, Finn, winning the Cat Photo Contest and taking home the Grand Finale prize! All three winners received a free mini-session with Nuena Photography, and Finn and Jane have also won a two-night stay at the Cypress Inn in Carmel. We must admit, we at BEBHS feel like the biggest winners of all having had all of the contest entrants share their special stories of love for their pets with us!
All in all, a fabulous time was had by all as was evident by the abundant smiles and laughter that echoed throughout the warehouse all afternoon. We were thrilled with the turnout, and we look forward to many more successful events in the future. Thank you to all who joined us! And a special shout out to our FABULOUS volunteers who gave their time and energy on Sunday to ensure the event's success. As always, we couldn't do it without you!
